PENINGKATAN SIFAT MOISTURE MANAGEMENT DAN SOIL RELEASE PADA KAIN TENUN POLIESTER MENGGUNAKAN SENYAWA KOPOLIMER HIDROFILIK

Abstract


Kemampuan moisture management dan soil release merupakan dua faktor penting yang dapat mempengaruhi tingkat kenyamanan dan kemudahan perawatan pada pakaian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperbaiki sifat moisture management dan soil release pada kain poliester sehingga lebih nyaman saat dipakai dan mudah melepaskan kotoran saat dicuci. Metode penelitian ini adalah dengan melakukan proses penyempurnaan pada kain tenun poliester menggunakan senyawa kopolimer hidrofilik, meliputi tahapan perendaman (dipping), pemerasan (padding), pengeringan (drying), dan pemanasawetan (curing). Untuk memperoleh kondisi proses terbaik, dilakukan percobaan dengan memvariasikan beberapa parameter, yaitu konsentrasi senyawa kopolimer hidrofilik (10 g/L; 20 g/L; 30 g/L; 40 g/L), suhu pemanasawetan (150 °C; 160 °C; 170 °C) dan waktu pemanasawetan (0,5 menit; 1 menit; dan 1,5 menit). Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pengujian menggunakan alat moisture management tester (MMT) dan uji soil release. Hasil uji menunjukan bahwa terjadi peningkatan sifat moisture management dan soil release pada kain poliester setelah diberi perlakuan dengan senyawa kopolimer hidrofilik. Kondisi proses optimum diperoleh pada konsentrasi 30 g/L, suhu pemanasawetan160 °C, dan waktu pemanasawetan 1 menit.
